She cooks.

I've been with my girlfriend for over a year. She is dedicated to the cause and even crosses oceans to see her boyfriend. Besides the good company I must say my favorite thing is her cooking. We've made beetroot pasta, dhal, chapatis ...and loads of dirty dishes.

Holy Cow

No meat. Indian atchar , roti and Indian lentils. I almost died it was so tasty. I share with Jonny, he shares with me. Perfect . I was invited to a dinner at a friend in Polokwane's house. I will hopefully be taking lots of photos of what ever delicious food comes my way.

No matter what I eat I find that the simple avocado sandwich is a good way to start and finish a day.

Food .

Food and memories: we had friends from around the country come and visit. I made chicken and rice, grilled cheese and tomato and Wurst Sandwiches. I also changed a whole bunch of coins that I had found in the street over the past few months.

Nachos with pizza sauce and Dorito chips are meh.

Great Tea is Shared by Great People

Simple tea shared by two people in one place. With different futures and even more different pasts. One thing they have is a similar taste for a calm morning and good milk tea.

Joiny (Jony) is a Pakistani immigrant. He came to south Africa 2 years ago and was given a small grocery store by his cousin. He runs it impeccably , saving money so he can send for the rest of his family to come live with him. His shop is located right next to one of the places where I work. The first time we met he made an amazing milk tea. It was so simple and delicious. I think the thing that made it so unique was the enthusiasm in which how he made it for me. Taking the utmost care , using a simple tea etiquette, letting his foreign guest take sugar first and presenting him with delectable, salty, sweet biscuits.

Made on a two burner hot plate and served at the cash register. An experience and a memory I will continue to pass on.

Return of the Goat!

Pudi has made its return. We had this super mischievous little brown goat. He got into everything; the garden, the donkey pen... The main courtyard. Needless to say his days were numbered. In South Africa winter break takes place at the end of June. The next few weeks are usually a time for all of the kids to return from boarding school. Well we had about 8 people at the house ... So a goat had to go. I didn't take part in the slaughter of this one but I'm sure it was an event. I like our animals but I am cautious about getting attached for the exact reason that they may be on my plate one day.

For the most part I am vegetarian in the village.... Opportunist ? What ever comes my way. Meat is a luxury and a much needed protein source.

Yum

Gross bed cover, gross sheets, great sandwich.

Still great . Avo + atchar sandwich.

My sheets are beyond ugly.

Still.

I live them though.
